A Word From The President

Recycling at the Grove ... where are we?

There have been an increasing number of questions (and a growing amount of incorrect information) about the recycling program here at MVGH. The Residents Executive Council discussed this with staff at our last meeting. And the bottom line: YES, the Grove continues to regularly participate in a broad range of recycling. And, YES, the refuse company with whom the Grove contracts (Republic Services) does recycle. So:

Are our household trash receptacles and recycle receptacles handled

separately? YES, the recycle receptacles are handled separately and emptied into

the large "white bins" in the trash collection area at the northwest corner of the

property. These white bins are picked up twice a week and taken to the Republic

facility where they separate glass, plastic, cardboard, etc for recycling.

Are the contents of the containers under the cubbies in the Commons handled separately? YES, the contents of these containers go into the white bins for transport and separation by Republic for recycling.

Are glass bottles recyclable? YES, All of the items on the recycling flier that is attached to this issue of Tidings are recyclable.

And how do we do our part?

• Place recyclable items in the "recycle cans"

• Rinse cans and bottles before recycling them

• Break down cardboard boxes so that they take up less room

RECYCLE!! Another way that we can intentionally be better stewards and be kinder to our planet.
